The Confederate States of America The 10-Cent Steel Plate Issues of 1863-65: The Exhibit

This is the story of the design, development, production, postal markings, and uses of the key letter rate postage stamps that guided the mail of the Confederate States of America during the final two years of the Civil War. These 10-cent stamps were issued at the mid-point of the Civil War after which many uses became especially rare. The exhibit includes Patriotics, railroad uses, semi-official envelopes, college covers, prisoner-of-war use, and numerous exceptional postal history items such as a cover addressed by President Jefferson Davis in his own hand, the unique cover to the captain of the ironclad warship Merrimack and the last known legitimate use of a CSA stamp on cover.It is a tremendous exhibit prepared by a master exhibitor and needs to be in the library of CSA stamp collectors and aficionados of great stamp exhibits.Another great exhibit from Exhibitors Press Read more
