The Tim Baily story is one of high adventure, personalcourage and determination, and most of all for Tim's great loveof Africa which he crossed and recrossed many times. Born inKenya Tm made his first overland crossing of Africa in thesixties when Africa was still raw and wild. With one companionin a short wheel base Land Rover he spent eighteen monthstraveling from South to North, shooting game for the pot andsupporting themselves by photography and writing. They had tomake illegal entries into the Sudan and Egypt, being arrested atthe Sudanese border post, stealing their passports back andmaking a night escape into Egypt.Later Tim returned to Africa to lead Siafu Expeditions,named after Africa's Siafu ant which stopped for nothing. If itcouldn't go round, under or over an obstacle it ate it's waythrough it. Tim led the first expedition to travel overland throughAfrica after the Congo wars. He was the pioneer who led eighttrips up and down through Africa before deciding that he mustdelegate to a series of equally dedicated expedition leaders. Inthe early days rivers had to be crossed by loading the LandRovers on to native canoes, the jungle roads were rivers of mud,bridges had to be rebuilt and fallen trees cleared out of the way.
