They make it more difficult to pinch fingers or clothing between glass panels. Solid Brass Mini Mall Clamps will work with 3/8 to 1/2 inch (9.5 to 12.7 millimeter) thick glass, and are easy to install. The round cap is tightened by simply putting a 3/32 inch (2.38 millimeter) drill in the round hole in the beveled edge and turning.
